Zofie asked question about death

When Zofie was age 3, I complained why my girl doesn’t ask questions. Jmaie, Nat and Raff were questioning their parents but why not Zofie? I thought she will be asking how she come from, instead she ask me about death. She kept asking will mummy die? Will flower die? Will earth die? Will ant die? Our answer is yes nothing is permanent. One day Zofie came back from school she told me Clare’s cousin is now 100 years old but haven’t die yet. Clare has another cousin who is now 100 years old and it is dead already. I guess she is trying to ask where do we go to after we are dead. Some of Zofie’s friend family members just pass away and I think they start having girls talk in school. The topic was about death. I remember I started questioning about death when I was age 12. The first time I went through death with a person was age 22. I was very shocked when my grandma screamed at me that she has been seeing things. I hid myself at the corner of the hospital and started crying. I didn’t know how to help my grandma. I have been questioning myself why do dead people see these things. I only found out the answer after I meet Tibetan teachers and read their spiritual books. We have to recognize our 5 senses are dissolving during death period. When we see white and black object during death means our mom and dad’s substance which created us starts to separate and dissolve from body. Anyway there where many long stories which I have been trying to explain to Zofie and today both of us had decided to teach her about death from the Tibetan Buddhism point of view. I have not decided which book is the best to start her but I hope it will help.

Would it not be better for small kids to understand death from materialist point of view, which will be taught later in the school. When she grows up she can learn further the more spiritual theory. Tell Zofie that the cells in the bodies'of young children grows. Some cell may die off but new cells are created replacing those which have died. The process is known as metabolism. In young children the number of new cells are created fafter than the cells that die. That is why we see children grow up from small size to bigger size. That process continues until few years later when the new cells that are created in the body system balance out the old cells which die away. When people reaches their middle/old age, the metabolism process slow down and it it not as fast for new cells to be created by the body system as when he/she was young. That is why older people take longer time than the young ones to get their sickness cured or their wounds healed. When a person grows even older, the metabolism is even slower. Therefore old people will eventuall die due to different kind of sicknesses depending on the condition of each individusl. The process is the law of nature no one can go against. Qing Shi Husng, the emporer of 2000 yrs ago who tried to prolong his life by various means but failed. I think you should teach Zofie about life this way (at least at this stage) until she grow up. I think it will be easier for Zofie to learn and understand the theory of nature. The theory from spiritual point of view can be too abstract for her because it is too yougn for her to imagine. Further more, she may get confused when she find what the school teaches her differs from the information she has been given at home. Above my comment/suggestion.

Fully agreed!! sprititual theory of death is far too abstract for young children.. even adults need certain 慧根 to understand it.. i hav to say i dun hav.. :P uncle Hauw did a very gd explanation of metabolism tt leaves me in awe!! :)
