BOOM BAH!

This is the set design of the farm house. Children loves to look at mirrors but the actors, mirrors helped them to bring out the puppets and the props.

That was the drum which the goat played

Zofie loves the violin which the cat played.

Zofe took picture with the pig

The setting was very simple. It was a walkway stage and children were allowed to sit on the floor beside the stage. At the corner of the stage there is a small house which the farm animals were able to walk in and out to get their musical props.

When the cat came onto the stage and said ‘hi’ that wasn’t a very clear signal. Some children as well and Zofie got frightened by the costume and look. The other farm animals made some sounds before entering the stage which gave the parent some time to tell the kids which animal is coming so the children would not got frightened.

The dialogues were very easy for 1 to 3 years old children to understand. They would pick up the props and make simple musical sound as well as big movement.

When the farm animals brought out the musical instrument before they play any music they would rehearse 1 to 3 notes during the performance before they start playing with it. This method helped not having a big ‘boom’ sound which scared the children away.

Zofie kept clinging on to me. During the ¾ of the show she started sitting down on her own and watch the show.

After the show there were some interactions with the farm animals and musical instruments. Zofie enjoyed the performance. I would like to bring her to watch more shows. A performance helps a child with their imagination and creativities.
