I am still looking for a school for Zofie. I went for a trial at Q-dees yesterday and it turn out not what I want. The teachers speak singlish just like me. Their music and movement was worst then what I did home with Zofie. Looks like the teacher dislike each other while doing the movements. It was wet outside so the children get to play indoors. The toys were not fascinating and Zofie got very bored after a short while. The Chinese teacher was not in school and the teachers were unable to find things that are attractive for them to do or play. When it comes to art and craft time the teacher simply draw out an apple and ask them the children to colour. The N1 students might mix with Zofie’s age group. Although the teachers feel that Zofie’s age group can pick up language from there and I could only see Zofie disturbing the class. The children were not concentrating at all. At that moment I felt I rather look for a good and expensive school. The first 6 years of child life is important. My friend is right, if the child has no interest in study from the start why would we save money for their uni? I wish Zofie could learn something in school and not spending her days in school learning nothing. By the way the teacher did not communicate with the little ones while playing with them. I think I did a better job at home.
I took a look at Charie Hearts at Lonie road this morning. I miss music and movement part. It was wet outside so the child get to play indoors. The toys were attractive. The children get to build things using the big blocks using their creativity and imagination. The teachers were positive as well to encourage the children to play and learn. This center is new and only started in August. There were only 3 students in the class. The ratio for today was 3:3 which I like so that the teachers can focus. But the principle told me the ratio will be 1:6. I couldn’t judge much on this school because they are new and there were only three students. I could only feel positive energy in the school. Zofie was very cranky. I have a feeling she knows I’m going to put her in school and she is up sad about it.
I went Hougang Mall to make enquiry at Sunflower school. 18 months old class is full. I realized they are doing exactly what PMI is doing (Multiple Intelligences) and they have a lot of other activities as well. I might sign Zofie up for kindergarten in this school when she reaches N1. When she reaches 2 and a half years old I might walk in and take a good look at this school again. Zofie cried out loud when I went in Sunflower. She stopped crying after I step out from the school door. She knows I am not doing shopping but looking for a school for her. However I would still prefer a landed property school then in a shopping mall because the children will get fresher air.
