Zofie hates painting

I don’t know what went wrong today… I was about to allow Zofie to get herself messy and dirty while playing with paints and enjoys the fun. Zofie cried out loud when she saw the blue paints on her fingers after touching the blue. No matter how hard I encouraged her she keeps crying none stop and cling onto me. I washed her hand, still she throw tantrum, and I end up bathe her which is the easiest and the fastest way.

I never afraid Zofie will get dirty because from there she will learn to feel and touch. I always allowed her to eat independently and I don’t mind letting her mess up the whole table and chair. Even when we go out to the park, I allow her to explore and touch e.g path way, water, sand, leaves, grass, flowers, soil and crawl around in any open area. I have no idea why this time she can be so afraid of paint? Was she afraid that she might get dirty?

When zofie was 6 months old I tried letting her use the blue paint and paint on a piece of blank paper however 98% are my work…when Zofie turns 8 months old same thing happened, I gave her yellow paints to paint on a blank paper, 98% are my work.

I wonder how I should encourage her to do painting.

I was interested to read your blog. As a parent you may be interested in being part of a university study I'm involved with. It’s about how infants and children develop. It wouldn’t take much of your time, and it’s a great way to contribute to knowledge by reporting on your own experiences.
